The Lord Ruler's perfect capital city, Luthadel, is doing the impossible: rebelling. Skaa half-breeds are being taught the power of Allomancy, something that the Lord Ruler's obligators said only existed in the nobility. The enslaved skaa, with their murderous benefactor, now fight back against a living god's oppression.

So, the Inquisition was formed. The nobles begin to fear assassination from all sides. The times of nobility Mistborn killing each other are over. The Steel Inquisitors look for aristocrat traitors and insurgent skaa, and the skaa try with all their strength to merely survive. The Lord Ruler's perfect Final Empire is slowly devolving into chaos.

Keeping time

In the Continuity thread, Camille, you said that there should probably be a better way of keeping dates in the RP. I completely agree.

I propose that the dates work on "cycles", based around the Ball Rotation. It seems that with the Balls, we have a consistent measure of time. So, under this plan, the Continuity thread would work like this:

Cycle 1
Day One
...
Day Two
...
Day Five
Nighttime - Casuana Ball

Cycle 2

Deveaux Ball

And so forth. The deciding factor is how many days we want a "cycle" to be. I think five days is good, because that's a lot of real-time RPing, but it really doesn't make a difference to me.

That's an excellent idea! I don't know if we know exactly how long weeks are on Scadrial, but five days sounds like a perfectly reasonable amount of time for one cycle. Even of Scadrial's weeks are longer, we can assume those days have passed - or add them in, if absolutely necessary - and no one says we have to play out every single day in the cycle anyways, leaving us with a flexible, but understandable schedule.

It's perfect! I'll be implementing it now. Thanks a lot! :D

I like this idea. And I know this may have been answered somewhere else, but I'm lazy this morning and don't want to search, but is there a set schedule in our time as to how often balls will occur? Like I know that the Casuana one is coming up, but how long after that will the Deveaux ball be? Two weeks? A month?

Considering the 5-day length of the Cycles we've adopted, I'd say that there will likely be roughly a week between balls, whether or not those days are actually played out in the RP boards. The actual dates can be adjusted as needed based on the real-life time flow and activity of the boards, but yeah. I'd say a week, give or take a couple days.

I'm going to say five days. It's plenty of RP time in between the Balls. Also, in my reread of Mistborn 1, Elend actually says nobles have Balls every day. If we assume that our "cycles" are for Great Houses, then five days seems like a suitable time in between major Balls.

Um... Was it planned that, four years later, we are still in cycle two?

We move at the pace of our members' lives. When many staff/core members are consistently called away by demanding work/school schedules, priorities in our personal lives, etc., that tends to slow the progress of the plot. It just means that you don't have to worry about falling behind! ;)
