General Information
House Name: Fathvell
Classification: Great House
Socioeconomic Rating: 7.2
Colors: Black, White, and Champagne
General Description: The Fathvells are one of a mere handful of houses from the Southern Islands to ever ascend to Great House status in the history of the Final Empire. Their stable alliance with Lekal and a boom in business thanks to the Sureau Coalition have helped them experience a near meteoric rise in power. But Luthadel is a vastly different place from the Islands, which may lead to some Fathvells having difficulty settling into their new lives and status.
Back home, however, they are a powerhouse like the Islands have not seen in some time. Maintaining large enough vineyards to meet the expensive demands of connoisseurs across the Final Empire and still having real estate to spare for shipyards requires vast amounts of land, meaning that Fathvell has massive holdings across the Dominance. This, combined with the vast differences in wealth and political power between the Fathvells and the neighboring Island houses, ensure that Fathvell remains the dominant economic force in the Islands.

Inquisition Notes
Ascension Date: 917
Allomancy: C+
Integrity: C-
I am not surprised often, but House Fathvell had indeed surprised me when they had ascended shortly before the Inquisition. They are the only Great House from an Outer Dominance--no small feat--and sell a variety of exotic goods from their homeland of the Southern Islands, along with the Remote Dominance, and sell it at exhoribatant rates in the Inner Dominances. Fathvell wine is the most sought after in the Empire, as the Southern climate is especially beneficial for that purpose. Perhaps the stroke of genius of Fathvell was that they are also shipwrights, making barges and ships both for their use and to sell to other houses. The barges alone give them a continuous revenue source in the Central Dominance.
Fathvell had expanded through the Southern Dominance with a well-placed alliance with House Lekal and House Landell, a transportation house, all the while avoiding the tumultuous Austrexian politics between Hasting and Casuana. When offered a substantial contract from House Sureau, they were able to ascend. Fathvell is not an explicit member of the Sureau Coalition, but they owe Sureau a great debt for assistance in ascension. Complicating matters is Sureau's longstanding hatred of Lekal, and so Sureau surely would love Fathvell to sever ties with its biggest ally. Indeed, they are between a rock and a hard place, trying to please almost everyone and probably succeeding in pleasing no one. Still, Fathvell's wealth in the face of pirates and criminals in the Isles means their leadership is forged from strong steel. Their military forces are surprisingly good as well, with one confirmed Mistborn and many lesser Mistings. A roster is attached for your perusal.
Fathvell is under investigation by our Tavira canton regarding more seedy dealings with local pirates, which in turn strike local enemies. Dealings of this nature are not an uncommon occurrence, so we have merely been quietly observing whom they support and if their activities come to heresy. Using skaa for political advancement, after all, is the grand tradition of the Final Empire. I can supply you a list of their contacts, but this is probably irrelevant for your Luthadel operations.
Though their meteoric ascent is impressive, our analyses do predict that they have overextended their economic reach. Models indicate that they will go bankrupt within five years, but Fathvell has surprised us before. I would not focus upon them, as Luthadel politics will not help their position, and the Inquisition and the coming conflict will not be good for their businesses. Regardless, for unexpected competence and not inconsiderable Allomantic reserves, I assess a Danger Rating of C+.
Home & Wealth
Current Location: Luthadel
Ancestral Home: Southern Islands
Financial Avenue: While the Fathvells deal in a wide variety of exotic luxury goods exported from the Southern Islands, they are principally known for their wine. Much of Fathvell's cultivable land is dedicated to vineyards, where the grapes that will become some of the Empire's finest wines are grown. In recent decades, they have also expanded into building and maintaining ships and barges, both for their own use and for sale to other houses. In order to stabilize their economic foundation, they are currently looking to expand and diversify their mercantile operations.
Diplomacy
Venture - Neutral - Diplomacy between Venture and Fathvell is undecided until it's determined whether or not Fathvell will officially join the Sureau Coalition.
Elariel - Neutral - Everyone is neutral with Elariel. Fathvell is no exception.
Deveaux - Neutral - Like Venture, Deveaux is waiting to see which side Fathvell chooses in their current struggle between two factions before deciding how they feel about them.
Sureau - Friendly - Sureau's massive contract with Fathvell was a key element in helping them to ascend, leading to positive relations between the two houses.
Hasting - Friendly - Similar to Sureau, positive and extremely beneficial dealings between the two houses have led to friendly relations.
Tekiel - Positive - The Fathvells and Tekiels haven't had enough dealings or interaction with one another for a true alliance, but they have mutual friends in the Sureaus and Hastings.
Lekal - Ally - Fathvell and Lekal have been allies for generations.
Casuana - Positive - Despite Fathvell's new friendly relationship with Hasting, dealings between Casuana and Fathvell have, for the most part, been good.
Raisaal - Neutral
Landell - Ally
Eston - Friendly - While not a formal alliance, Eston's aid was a major part of Fathvell's financial success in Luthadel, putting the two on good terms.
Bouvier - Friendly - Fathvell's financial success (and therefore their increased patronage) has remarkably increased Bouvier's profits, strengthening their already long-standing, positive relationship.
Prevot - Enemy - This Southern house is mainly supported by its own vineyards, making it a direct competitor to Fathvell.
Lasalles - Enemy - Lasalles made a bid for Luthadel at the same time as Fathvell. When Fathvell ascended and they didn't, the result was financial disaster for Lasalles.
Valois - Enemy - This old enemy of Tekiel's recently recovered enough for a second bid at Luthadel, only to be knocked reeling by Fathvell on their way to ascension.
Hathaway - Enemy - Fathvell's increase in trade has interfered with Hathaway's business operations. In addition, Fathvell's friendliness with Sureau has strained what remained of their relationship.

Contracts
Steel Ministry: One of the factors that finally propelled Fathvell into Great House status was a contract with the Steel Ministry in Luthadel, trading their best wine for a substantial price. In addition, Fathvell builds and maintains barges and ships for the Ministry's southern and seafaring operations.
House Sureau: Sureau purchases large quantities of Fathvell's goods such as wines, textiles, and exotic spices. This substantial contract was another key element in Fathvell's ability to ascend.
House Hasting: Fathvell sells goods to Hasting, and purchases weapons from them after Casuana was forced to turn down Fathvell's most recent purchase orders.
House Lekal: Lekal and Fathvell are old allies, having enjoyed mutually beneficial trade for generations. Fathvell sells its luxury goods to Lekal, while supplementing their own harvests with agricultural products from Lekal.
House Casuana: Though high demand forced Casuana to deny weapon sales to Fathvell, they still purchase Fathvell goods.
House Landell: Fathvell builds and maintains barges for Landell as well as selling exports to them, while using Landell routes to bring their goods into the heart of the Empire.
House Eston: This Luthadel-based mercantile House sold its services to Fathvell when the latter first made a bid for the city, lending greatly to Fathvell's financial success there and a standing partnership between the two.
House Bouvier: This Southern mercantile House is the source of many basic supplies for Fathvell holdings, such as candles, lamp oil, etc.
[REDACTED - These Contracts Do Not Exist]: House Fathvell certainly does not repair ships for local pirate crews or supply retired skaa mobsters with wine for an exorbitant price. These crews definitely do not "coincidentally" attack any enemy of Fathvell's that gets too close. There's nothing to see here. Move along.
Governance & Customs
Fathvell's governance is simple and straightforward. The Lord of the house has the ultimate authority, and delegates certain vital tasks to capable individuals. The heir is traditionally the current head's closest male relative, though in extreme cases this has been known to change.
As with other houses from the Southern Islands, the Fathvells have to worry more about marauding pirates and retired skaa mobsters hoping to live out a wealthy retirement next door than they do about Inquisitors or subtleties from rival houses. It is quite common to make under-the-table deals with these scoundrels, and the Fathvells are no exception. The Ministry rarely looks into these things that far south, and when they do, the bribes are easy enough to pay. This is an everyday part of running the house, and many Fathvells find Luthadel's stricter oversight and harsh attitudes toward this type of thing to be downright alien.
