The Lord Ruler's perfect capital city, Luthadel, is doing the impossible: rebelling. Skaa half-breeds are being taught the power of Allomancy, something that the Lord Ruler's obligators said only existed in the nobility. The enslaved skaa, with their murderous benefactor, now fight back against a living god's oppression.

So, the Inquisition was formed. The nobles begin to fear assassination from all sides. The times of nobility Mistborn killing each other are over. The Steel Inquisitors look for aristocrat traitors and insurgent skaa, and the skaa try with all their strength to merely survive. The Lord Ruler's perfect Final Empire is slowly devolving into chaos.

Standing six feet even, Ulrich is built like a newborn foal, all legs and arms and not much else, even his training has only caused him to be lankier, with long wiry muscles that while strong, do not make him look it. Unlike his father, who is a broad, powerful looking man, Ulrich takes more after his mother and while he is extremely tall for his age he is slim and does not cut that imposing a figure.

His hair is black, another gift from his mother, and is kept short. He has tried to have it longer but it had an annoying tendency to get in his eyes, so he gave up. His eyes are gray like his father, but much darker and warmer than his father's ever are. He loves the fact that he now can grow facial hair, and is doing his best, but can only get a little bit of stubble to grow, however he thinks it makes him look like his father so he's completely fine with it.

His appearance at most times is rumpled. It's not that he's trying to make a statement by not dressing correctly, rather, he is just very lazy and doesn't see the point in putting effort into his appearance. It is not as if he's at a ball or something where people who haven't known him his entire life will see him, so why bother?

Ulrich is a happy person, and little can stop him from being so. Even in situations where he should be sad he puts up a happy front anyways. It is best to kill people with kindness, after all. Well kindness and a few swift stabs to vital organs, but we'll get to that eventually.

Even though he is an assassin in training and has been trained in the art of murdering people since he was ten, Ulrich has never killed anyone, and is in fact quite innocent. It's due to the fact that his father has sheltered him as much as possible, trying to let his son be a child for as long as can be arranged, perhaps to his detriment.

Ulrich is extremely friendly, perhaps overly so, like a dog that won't stop panting in your face because it wants you to know how happyit is to see you. He has a tendency to invade people's personal space without meaning too, simply because he doesn't know he is doing it, and is all together too honest for a noble of his stature.

His goal in life is to make his father proud, not that this is very difficult for him, but he wants to make his father proud of things he should actually be proud of. Sometimes it seems like just tying his shoes is enough for his father to pat him on the back, so how is he to know when he does something truly note worthy?

While Ulrich has been sheltered most of his life, and doesn't even realize it, his father has instilled in him one important attribute, loyalty to his House. House Venture has given him everything after all, it is only his duty to do what is asked of him, whatever that is. That is why he looks forward so much to the commencement of his Mistborn duties, he wants to finally give back to his House.
