The enslaved skaa, with their murderous benefactor, now fight back against a living god's oppression.

So, the Inquisition was formed. The nobles begin to fear assassination from all sides. The times of nobility Mistborn killing each other are over. Marceline is a tall, blond young woman. She is pretty, though she doesn’t think it. Her eyes are a deep blue. Her build is broad, and she is not the skinniest girl. She believes that that is bad, but there is nothing she can do about it. Because of her broad, naturally filled out build she could not actually get any thinner. Her figure is almost a perfect, curvaceous hourglass.

She stands with both legs straight and a hip popped to her left. Her cheekbones are high, though not well defined as her face follows the build of the rest of her body, soft lines and filled out. Her face is incredibly expressive, though she doesn’t like that. She sees all the other noblewomen with their perfect facial expressions and is jealous. She sometimes gives too much away in her face.

Only used to socializing in a group, Marceline finds herself at a loss when the conversation goes from small talk to actual interests or she is found in a situation where she is on her own. She is not used to knowing people on a personal level because of this. She is not a talkative person, and her interests do not stray off the beaten path. She is afraid that if she lets herself become interested in anything that is not normal, she will cease to be accepted.

Marceline has never had problems with acceptance, though she learned early on how to stay in people’s good favor. She is blind to those who are having trouble being accepted and ignores all who are ‘cast out’ from the group. However, when on her own she can be a decent person, though she has little experience being kind.

She is well read, though she is not used to discussing books and has therefore not put much effort into it. She doesn’t see the need when all she usually discusses is men and dresses. She doesn’t care for the skaa, and is boy-crazy.

Her personality when out of a social group is much different. She is quiet, awkward, and uncertain. She has very low self-esteem, as evidenced by how she has to be accepted by a group at all times. Her only sense of actual worth comes from the fact that she is a misting. She is, though she doesn’t realize it, an intelligent young woman with worthwhile interests. She has a head for numbers and strategic patterns that has never been fully realized because she stayed away from all ‘men’s interests’. Aside from a few books on mathematics that she read when she was younger, she knows little about it. The books stuck with her, though, and she has always been able to figure out number patterns and see patterns in things that other people might not.

Special Skills: Conforming, being over-looked, Smoking, noticing patterns before others and her basic intuition about numbers.

Strengths: She is quiet, likeable when on her own, and a wonderful Smoker. She can see patterns that would usually go unnoticed, and she knows how to please.

Weaknesses: She is incredibly unsure of herself and has not let herself pursue her obvious talent for mathematics because it would be unfeminine. Because of this she believes that she is not smart, and this impairs her ability to be her own person.

Marceline was born in the year 900 to Aida and Karlis Dumont, who were in a happy, yet loveless marriage. She has an older brother, Colin, but they are not close. He is much older than she is, by almost seven years, and already married. Her early years were uninteresting, at least when she looks back on them they seem that way. She picked up on reading quickly, and proceeded to read a few of every kind of text until she lighted on mathematics when she was seven. When she tried to talk to her brother about it, however, he told her that a girl shouldn’t be interested in that kind of thing. In fact, what a girl was supposed to be interested in was romance poetry, shopping, and boys.

Marceline, instead of proving her brother wrong, read as much romance poetry as she could and then went and tried to talk to her brother about it again. He told her that boys didn’t care about those things. So she went and complained to her mother who told her that if she wanted people to like her she needed to stop getting so excited and that boys and girls interests were not the same. Marceline nodded, wanting approval from her family, and stopped talking so much.
Marceline began to make friends after she stopped spending so much time reading and found that when she showed interest in the correct things, people liked her. She did just that and by the young age of eight was already perfectly behaved. However, that was when she realized that she wasn’t ever going to be a petite, skinny noblewoman. What she had thought ‘baby fat’ was, in fact, just the way that she was built.

One of her friends was Celestine Beliveaux. They spent all kinds of time together, with Marceline being the perfectly behaved young lady she knew she needed to be, with perfect feminine interests and nothing out of the ordinary. What she did read that wasn’t feminine she never talked about and they became quite good friends, at least that’s what they thought.

She was snapped at eight. Because she never talked to her brother, and it was a taboo subject, when she was taken to be beaten, she thought she had done something terribly wrong. She forgot all her lessons about not being too emotional or loud immediately. She screamed and cried and pleaded, insisting that she was sorry and would never do it again. She didn’t even know what it was she had done wrong. Through the pain she felt something warm flare up in her stomach and an instant later the beating stopped and she passed out.

When she woke up her brother was sitting next to her and, grudgingly, congratulated her. She was confused. Her father explained that she was a misting, specifically a smoker, and she acted like she was excited. She was in too much pain to be able to think very clearly. She healed quickly, and while she was healing began to learn. Her training was hard, but she excelled at smoking. For the first time in her life, she was better than her brother.

She grew and filled out quickly. By the time she was twelve she already looked like a young woman and she just continued to grow. She thought that something was wrong with her, so she asked her mother.

“That’s perfectly natural, dear.” Her mother told her.

“But mum, none of my friends look like this… I am a good three inches taller than all of them, and they keep telling me that they are jealous, though I do not know of what.” A thirteen-year-old Marceline protested, looking as if she wanted to hide.

“I will admit that you are quite young, but it is nothing to worry about. All this means is that you will be done developing earlier than your friends.” Her mother said. She turned around and continued working, indicating that the conversation was over.

When she was fifteen she was presented to society. Her first few balls were lonely, and then she got accepted into the group that she stayed with until moving to Luthadel. She watched her friend Celestine fail to be accepted by the clique, which bullied her, and Marceline realized that she was still not what everyone wanted her to be and tried even harder to become like the other girls in the group. All she wanted was to be accepted, even if that meant that she couldn’t do things that she wanted to do because they were unfeminine. The dresses she had to wear only made her feel worse. None of her friends had that much cleavage, and even when Marceline tried to wear modest clothing, it seemed that she couldn’t escape it.

It only got worse. Unlike what her mother had told her, she didn’t stop growing until she was almost sixteen, and after that her figure kept developing. She felt that she couldn’t go five months without needing her dresses tailored. She started eating less, hoping that it would help, but it only resulted in her mother commenting that she looked unhealthy. It was like nothing she could do would ever make her the petite, desirable young noblewoman she wanted to be.

Just weeks after Marceline turned eighteen she was sent to Luthadel with her steward. The reason given her was to learn the ways of the court and for her presence to solidify the alliance between Dumont and Hasting. She knew that the implied was that she needed to catch a rich husband as well so that she would become someone else’s problem. When she got to the city she hit it off quite nicely with Colette, which made her glad. She had been worried that Colette wouldn’t like her. Once more she was part of a clique, and she didn’t mind. Colette had use for a smoker and though Marceline still felt as though she was not worth Colette’s acceptance, she enjoyed it. Very soon she was wearing only the latest in Luthadel fashion and ridiculing everyone that Colette didn’t like. She made a point of going to bookstores occasionally, as she knew that though reading was not particularly attractive, it was good to be educated on all the latest topics.

(A scene from this character's viewpoint. Take care in picking a scene. It could be a scene from the past or it could happen practically during current events. In any case, write something important to the character so everyone can truly feel the character)

I've already told you what I think about Marceline over the course of plotting, but I'll say it again here. I think she's great, and I can't wait to play with her and the other girls!

Approved from me. One more to go!
