Marceline stood in front of her mirror, pulling pins out of her hair. She'd dismissed her lady's maid for the day after the girl had been incapable of not singing. Today had been an utter disaster. Not only had the amount of singing been both incredible and terrifying, but there'd been a really handsome nobleman who hadn't even paid the slightest attention to her. He had been rather self-centered, but his looks had made up for that, and he hadn't even looked at her twice.

She picked up her hair brush and pulled it through her hair, almost surprised at how angry she looked about it. It wasn't even dinner time and she was already in a bad mood. Who needed that self-centered jerk anyways? Especially when he didn't seem interested in her. But everyone else had loved him...

"The golden boy in the crowd
The world loves him now
And so do you
But his mirror shows only himself
It'd be easy to tell if you had my view."

Woah. Why was she singing again? And to her reflection too. Had she gone mad? She glanced at the door. Had anyone heard her? It was just her, her lady's maid, the cook, and her steward that lived here, but if they'd heard her singing....She bit her lip and then turned back to her reflection.

"You might go hungry, might go blind
If you keep on keeping him in mind
Baby, you can't keep breaking down
Love is your own choice to be found
Something that your body doesn't know a thing about

Girl, you've got to woman up
Girl, you've got to woman up
Get your rainbow off the rug and start anew
Girl, you've got to woman up
Bite the bullet, not the dust
'Cause the road to better love is losing you"

Maybe this singing thing wasn't all that bad. Marceline certainly felt better now. She was getting really into it as well. Perhaps singing her feelings was not so bad.

"So bad you feel when you wait
Your dignity's down the drain
It ain't right if the road only goes one way
It's okay to love hard as long as you're loving you first, babe
'Cause you can't trust no one else to be your friend these days

You might go hungry, might go blind
If you let your power go this time
Baby, I hate to see you cry
But only good's in this goodbye
Step out of the forest, and you'll see the trees behind

Girl, you've got to woman up
Girl, you've got to woman up
Get your rainbow off the rug and start anew
Girl, you've got to woman up
Bite the bullet, not the dust
'Cause the road to better love is losing you

Girl, you've got to woman up
Girl, you've got to woman up--"

Suddenly someone knocked on the door of her small town-house and she froze. Had they heard her singing? And she was hardly presentable now that her hair was down. Oh Lord Ruler. This was a disaster.
