Taciturn, Introverted, slightly masochistic. Misses reading, writing, and painting. Always uses emotional Allomancy when playing music. Has no quarrel with the Lord Ruler, but plenty with the Steel Ministry. Knows skaa are not inferior to noblemen in wit or poise, or any other way. Despises the oppression of the Skaa, but never speaks out against it. Or anything, really. Slightly Schizophrenic (wink wink). Can often be found wandering Luthadel at night searching for his deceased wife.
History
The son of the High Inquisitor Shokhan Venture, Valkyn is not in line for High Seat. He and his baby sister snapped early ( A matter involving a balcony and an 'encouraging' push). His sister, who is a mistborn, was trained to be an assassin from an early age. She took to it like a fish to water. He has been a known seeker since early childhood. (A lack of discretion on his part.) He has since learned to hold his tongue. His sister usually killed the assassins sent to destroy him, relishing the carnage. As they grew in stature, they gained favor with his father.
He joined the Canton of Arbitration (makes sense to me) young and rose quickly through the ranks, using silence and music to set the tone for many arbitrations. It worked almost as well as emotional Allomancy.
He married young, a lady far beneath his station against his mother's wishes. He loved her and created many works of art for her. He had been married for almost a month when his father gave the order to induct him into the Canton of Inquisition. Valkyn was kidnapped and spiked, turned into a steel inquisitor. At nearly the same time, it was discovered his wife was skaa. Apparently her father's wife and daughter had died during childbirth, so he took a newborn Skaa and raised her as his own daughter.
Valkyn's sister murdered his wife while he was incapacitated and left the carnage displayed all over his rooms. This time, his sister gave the credit to Valkyn, increasing his esteem in his father's eyes.
Valkyn, however was devastated. Soon after his induction into the Canton of Inquisition, He was assigned to help find the Skaa resistance due to his skill with bronze. Find them he did, but he revealed nothing to his superiors. He learned who was behind it over the course of many months of silent vigils, and came at last to Ignus not to destroy, but to assist.
Roleplay Sample
The Mists spoke to him. They sang to him. He flared tin. There. Her voice. Her voice in the mists. It was a song. The song he had written for her. He could hear it in the wind, feel it rustling through the streets below. The tinkling of bells, the movement of winds. He could feel the strings vibrating on his fingers. The song reverberated through him, playing him the way he played his lute. Elena. She was out there. With his bronze, he could feel her heart pulsing. With his tin, he could feel her fingers caress him, her scent fill his brain, her taste dance on his tongue, her voice tinkle in his ears. So close, he could reach our and touch her. A tear fell from beneath the spike. If only he could see her. They had taken his eyes and the sight of her. His sight was his only sense that lied to him. and it LIED to him. The blue lines pointed everywhere, giving everything texture, but she wasn't there. Wasn't right behind him like he knew she was. They had taken her from him, but they couldn't take her from him.
He dropped a coin and pushed up into her embrace. The wind, so cold against his skin was her caress. He flew through the night, rushing from one embrace to the next, dancing with her as he had years before and yesterday.
With his bronze, he felt her heartbeat. several of them. Tineyes. The pounding was muted due to the smoker, but they couldn't hide her heartbeat. He landed softly in the street and collapsed, writhing in pain. The cobblestones were needles stabbing him where he landed. So, Elena wanted to play rough tonight. He stood slowly, savoring the pain she caused him. With his tin, he could hear every word through the soundproof walls. There. Ignus was inside. The tineyes had just alerted him that he was coming.
Are you sure this is what you want? he asked her.
She encouraged him with soft sussurations. He smiled. I love you, he replied.
The door opened before him and he drew up his cowl, stepping inside to join the rebellion.
She was so proud of him.
