Trenton is of average height, with dark brown eyes and medium brown hair. His hair is always combed to the right, and kept long enough to comb, while short enough that it isn’t too unruly. When Trenton feels uncomfortable, he often combs his hair with his hand, a nervous habit he’s had since he was a boy. Trenton is thin, but not particularly muscular, as he doesn’t duel or do other physically demanding nobleman activities.

Trenton has a tendency to give a judgmental look with either raised eyebrows or a scowl, often accompanied with a sarcastic or judgmental comment. He wears clothing in the modern style, but he dresses a bit more conservatively than some of his peers. He has a pocket watch that he always has with him, a gift given to him by his father before he debuted at his first ball. He wears it as a reminder of his goal of controlling his branch of the house, if not the entire house, as well as a reminder of his parents’ lack of care for him. While he may not admit it, he also holds onto it as it is one of the few things that suggest his parents actually care for him.

Trenton’s lack of connection with his parents or other children as he grew up had a profound effect on him. While he attempts to hide it behind sarcasm and an aloof demeanor, his friends are very important to him.

In public the first impression he usually leaves is that of someone who is aloof, witty, and with an often dry and biting sense of humor, especially with those of near equal rank to him.

However, if Trenton gets comfortable with someone, his sense of humor becomes slightly less biting, and he warms up, allowing himself to come out of his shell. While he is still not extremely warm and outgoing, he is much less cutting with his sarcasm.

With authority, on the other hand, he struggles with being polite, as his early experience with authority was with cold and distant parents, and with tutors who he made the target of his vicious insults and sarcasm. These two early examples of authority for him make him very difficult to interact with as an older noble.

With subordinate nobles, he is well liked, as he often treats them as he treats equals. He is often warmer towards subordinates than to equals he just met, as he doesn’t feel like he has anything to prove to his subordinates in rank.

His views on skaa are mostly typical. He doesn’t believe anything should change with their system, and sees skaa as subhuman. He doesn’t take any joy in hurting skaa, as he is not a violent person, and he doesn’t think they’ll understand his sarcasm. He is still very sarcastic and mean-spirited with the skaa, especially when they make mistakes in their work, however.

Special Skills: As a byproduct of his years attacking his tutors verbally, he has gained the ability to understand what makes people tick. This lets him either cut to the core with his insults and actions, or gain people's trust by making them feel important and trusted.
Strengths:Cunning, Resourceful, Witty
Weaknesses: Stubborn, Sharp-Tongued

Trenton Urvon was born in Fellise to Lewes and Emassa Urvon in 899. Lewes wasn’t there. He was in Klessium, trying to establish an Urvon presence in the city. This was only the start of a long string of absences at important moments in Trenton’s life. Throughout his early childhood, Trenton was an average boy. He learned to walk and talk at the normal times, and was no more or less curious or precocious than any other child.

But in their infrequent reports to Lewes, Trenton’s tutors pointed out that he was an extremely stubborn boy, walking out of lessons when they required him to do any work he didn’t want to do, and always getting anything he wanted, no matter how long it took him to get it. Another trait they noted was how self-reliant he was. While he may not have been a genius, he always found out a way to do the assigned work well (at least when he was motivated to do it.) As Trent got older, the lack of care his parents showed for him began to become more apparent. Lewes was always away on House business, and Emassa was more concerned with ball gowns and looking beautiful in front of other nobles than she was with raising a child. This was tough for Trenton, because as an only child with very absent parents, he had very little connection to anyone in his family.

This lack of connection had a few effects: First, he sought out his more distant relatives, attempting to befriend his similarly aged cousins Aurora and Astor. Astor was extremely shy and socially unskilled, preferring books to the company of others, and Aurora was already absorbed in the House politics, and so Trent’s distance from his family grew greater.

When he was 8, Trent’s stubbornness prompted him to take the matter into his own hands. One night, knowing that his father was due to return home from a trip to Urteau, he waited up for him to get to the manor. When he arrived, Trent rushed down to the atrium of the manor, and before any of the servants could stop him, he strode right up to his father and said:

“Father, you need to stay home for a while!”

Lewes was caught off guard. He had been expecting to go to bed, but instead his son was practically shouting in the middle of the night. “Why?” He said, more annoyed than anything else.

“No one ever wants to play games with me and I thought maybe you would. The tutors are too busy, Astor’s always reading and Aurora’s always playing dress-up and-

Lewes cut in, “Sure, all right, I’ll stay home.” There was little sincerity in his voice, but Trenton missed that fact.

Trenton was beaming, expecting days and days of playing games with his father. “Thank you so much, Father! I’ll go right to bed now.” He sped off back up the stair and up to his room, leaving a still-confused Lewes behind him.

After this confrontation, despite Trenton’s hopes nothing changed. After a few days of pestering Lewes to try to play with him for even a minute and constantly being pushed away, Trenton began to realize that nothing would ever change. And so he gave up on his relationship with his father.

He didn’t even try to get closer to his mother, who had handed him off to a wet nurse as soon as she could and had never looked back. He released his frustration at his lack of connection with his family on his tutors, the cold, distant authority figures who could never be replacements for his parents. This frustration took the form of constant verbal attacks, rude comments and cutting remarks.

When he was young, they weren’t subtle at all, and rarely cut deep enough to anger his tutors. But as the years passed, and he learned what really cut deep and what didn’t, he became adept at sarcasm and cutting remarks, a skill he has kept honed throughout the years and that he has perfected for use in noble politics.

Even though Trenton had consciously given up on trying to connect with his family, there was a little part of him that still hoped that his parents would someday come around and actually show interest in him. The only way he could have imagined it happening at this point was if he Snapped. As usual, his father was out of town, and the command to commence the beating was delivered via messenger.

Guards dragged him out of bed and down into the cellar, where he was force fed allomantic metals, and beaten within an inch of his life, while Benedict Urvon, his uncle, burned bronze to search for any allomantic pulses. There were none. Trenton had no allomantic ability. His last chance to make his parents pay attention to him and care about him had failed.

Once he had been beaten and shown to have no allomantic ability, Trenton lost any hope he may have had that his parents would someday care about him. His frustration grew daily, and he continued to take it out on his tutors. More than a few of them quit after he lashed out with what was by now a very cutting array of verbal attacks.

This hit him hard, because even though his tutors were only cold, distant replacements for the parents that didn’t care about him, they were better than nothing. Having his tutors begin to abandon him began a vicious cycle, as his cutting insults made his tutors abandon him, and the abandonment increased his anger and frustration, leading to more incidents of him lashing out verbally.

This all changed when Trenton began to be taught about the political scene in Luthadel. The political scene was important to Trenton for two reasons: The first was that while his sharp wit had been honed by finding the weaknesses in people and using them to verbally attack people, it could be used just as well in the political intrigues of Luthadel. Secondly, the political scene meant Balls, and Balls meant socializing, something that had been rare for him throughout his early years.

When Trenton debuted, he was initially uncomfortable; overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people he could talk to. He tried to be as polite as possible, but his sarcasm was uncontrollable. It slipped out at inopportune moments, but he managed to smooth over most of his slips.

As Trenton grew accustomed to the ball scene, he began making friends. One of these friends was Cedric Hallieau, who he met a few balls after his debut. Trenton observed Cedric as he talked with a girl, and after witnessing Cedric freeze, decided he had to talk to him. He felt bad for Cedric, understanding the loneliness he must have been feeling right then. And so Trenton approached him and they started talking. Trenton told him how he’d seen Cedric freeze, and how Trenton himself often struggled with interacting with people. Trenton got him to dance with another girl later, and Cedric didn’t freeze up that time.

Trenton and Cedric’s shared knack for sarcasm made them close, and they often engaged in verbal sparring matches, that seemed antagonistic from the outside, but were simply fun for the two involved.

One thing Trenton was careful to never touch too closely on was Cedric’s lack of confidence in interacting with women. While Cedric was never wholly open about how uncomfortable he was even talking with women, it was very apparent. Trenton, following the lead of Cedric’s older brother Cyril acted as a sort of wingman for Cedric, giving him a chance with women where alone he would’ve had none.

When Cyril got engaged to Grandell Tekiel, Trenton found himself as Cedric’s sole wingman, and saw Cedric’s insecurities grow, as both Cedric and Trent noticed Grandell’s similarities to Cedric in personality, as well as the different situations they were in.

Unlike Cedric, who was jealous of Cyril, Trenton wasn’t particularly affected by Cyril’s engagement as he knew that his marriage prospects were limited to women who would help his house improve its standing as well, and he was in no rush to get into an arranged marriage.

Cedric, it turned out, was. He ended up in an arranged courtship with Arisella Blanchart. While the courtship is still ongoing, and Cedric has confessed that falling for her isn’t that easy, Trenton supports him because he knows that the alternative(being single and attempting, with limited success, to talk to women) would be much worse for Cedric’s insecurities.

During this time, he began to get closer with Aurora Urvon as well. While when they were younger, he wasn’t interested in playing with her because she only wanted to do things that noblewomen would do. But now, with them both more mature, and both alienated by their families, (Aurora because of Astor’s succession situation) they became quite close. Aurora taught Trenton how to control his tongue so it wouldn’t get him in trouble, and Trenton taught Aurora how to read situations and influence people to react the way she wanted them to.

They formed a kind of partnership, each listening to the other’s family problems. When they became fed up with simply complaining about their problems, they decided they needed to make plans to solve them.

Trenton helped to work on the succession situation, by attempting to gain the loyalty of as many members of his branch as possible, and pledging that he and all of his loyal followers would support her as House Head should Bernard die. Knowing that many people believed Astor was unfit to rule, and that Bastian Urvon had ambitions of his own, Trenton and Aurora decided that Aurora had the best chance of becoming the House Head if she could bypass the normal rules of Urvon succession.

Trenton’s problems were less concrete. He had reached the point where he was no longer dependent on his parents at all, and had given up on trying to show them he was worth caring about, but he still had unresolved issues. He decided on revenge. Just as his parents were never there when he needed them, he and those they relied on wouldn’t be there either.

He did this in the process of gaining the loyalty of many of the lesser Urvon nobles, guards, and servants in the service of his family. By ensuring they were loyal to him and not his parents, he made certain that when the assassins came (and they would, since Urvon was making a bid to ascend), no one would be there to protect his parents. Trenton would become the branch head, and would get his revenge.

While he’s been biding his time, waiting until he and Aurora can get into positions of more power, he’s been building connections with as many people as possible, trying to have as strong a base as possible for when he comes into power, and for when the possible succession crisis weakens a house that will either be ascending or recently ascended.

I want to get Trenton and Felix in the same place... Because I think that would be incredibly fun.

Anyway, I just have one request before I'll put my Moru stamp of approval on Trent.

In his personality section you have this:

While he attempts to hide it behind sarcasm and an aloof demeanor, his friends on Team Love-Gods are very important to him.

Would it be possible to change that to something more neutral? Someone who doesn't know what Team Love-Gods is would be very confused by reading that. Something like: "The friends he's made in Luthadel are very important to him."
