The Lord Ruler's perfect capital city, Luthadel, is doing the impossible: rebelling. Skaa half-breeds are being taught the power of Allomancy, something that the Lord Ruler's obligators said only existed in the nobility. The enslaved skaa, with their murderous benefactor, now fight back against a living god's oppression.

So, the Inquisition was formed. The nobles begin to fear assassination from all sides. The times of nobility Mistborn killing each other are over. The Steel Inquisitors look for aristocrat traitors and insurgent skaa, and the skaa try with all their strength to merely survive. The Lord Ruler's perfect Final Empire is slowly devolving into chaos.

As Datura walked up to the warehouse, she nodded to her guard at the door. He gave her a quick, respectful nod back, giving her a hand signal to indicate he was burning. He'd watch the door and keep the area Smoked so long as she was in there. She hardly went anywhere without a Smoker these days. She liked the safety of being able to burn without risk.

The warehouse was one of hers, stolen from some rival smuggling crew over the years. She didn't remember which one. Right now, it stood empty, as she had other places to store goods that were more easily accessible.

Instead, she'd taken to using this place as a training ground instead. She'd been curious when Ignas had asked for a place like this, summoning her for a meeting, but she hoped it would suit his purposes.

Whatever those purposes might be.

She knocked on the side door, a light burn letting her put a little more force behind the hits so that they'd resonate. She had a feeling the rebel leader had already arrived to the site early. He seemed to like being the first.

That was fine by her. Fashionably late suited her style.
