The Lord Ruler's perfect capital city, Luthadel, is doing the impossible: rebelling. Skaa half-breeds are being taught the power of Allomancy, something that the Lord Ruler's obligators said only existed in the nobility. The enslaved skaa, with their murderous benefactor, now fight back against a living god's oppression.

So most of the original members of this thread seem to be gone (except for Klyde of course), but it seems we have some new interest in the topic, so I thought I'd revive it.

Anyways, Klyde's thieving crew seems to be forming up nicely, so I thought we'd get started on the plotting. We know Khaelys wants to hit up the Lekals at some point, but we can plan other jobs here as well.

The first order of business, of course, will be tracking down Delissia (which should happen early morning of day 2, the day after the 'Waiting' thread). If you like comedy, romance, action, and an explosion or two, make room in your schedules to be there!

But after that? Who knows? What would you guys like to do next? Personally, I think Klyde might end up having his eye on a new casino in town (the first high class establishment of it's kind in the empire). The casino, however, is still in the planning stages, so it probably won't be robbable for a few cycles yet.

Any other ideas? Also, if you are interested in joining the crew, maybe post here just so we can keep track of everyone.

Zincell is in, obviously. She could probably do the whole forging handwriting and the like, or pass as a noblewoman. Though I'm not really sure what else she could do, I still find the idea of a Keeper pretending to be a noble interesting :) . She could also act as a stewardess, and she could keep a tin-enhanced ear around to listen to things she shouldn't know. Or be a distraction, what with the full steelminds and all.

I don't really know what'll come of this right now. :lol:

Matt already knows about this, but I'll post about it here too in case anyone wants to go ahead and start plotting.

I'm making a character who will be joining Klyde's crew. I'm not sure how yet, as he'll be new to Luthadel - perhaps through Cassi? Or maybe some other NPC contact. I'm open to ideas here.

Anyways, his name is Donatien, and he's from Klessium (the MBI-Fanon capital of the Eastern Dominance). He's legally blind, but is extremely skilled with Allomantic tin and a savant to boot. Basically, all that stuff Spook used to be a superhero - super hearing, the ability to sense air currents, etc? Donatien uses that just to function. He's no Daredevil though, in any sense of the word. He's not combat trained, couldn't bear the pain were he to be hit (what with how much he burns tin and all), and is sort of a wimp when it comes to that stuff anyways. He's much better off as a people person, so with his solid noble backstory in Klessium, he's pretty ideal to be an infiltrator. Not to mention, living as a noble means he's far less likely to be killed for his Allomancy.

Only problem is, he kind of needs a place to live to pull off his charade.

Having checked with Chaos on this, Trev may very well keep up a presence in the thieving-crew world, and may take on a job from time to time. :lol: He scopes people out for potential induction to the rebellion.

So if it so happens that, maybe, Klyde just can't find another Thug, especially not one with Trev's handy qualities (brutish ones are probably not toooo hard to come by)...

That wouldn't be awkward or tense at all! NOTHING CAN GO WRONG WITH THIS PLAN!

I'm in the process of typing up a new character. Sure you've heard him mentioned in Kaled's profile.

Matthias is an excellent spy, especially due to his imposing mass one would brush him off as simply the muscle. He may need a skaa impersonating a noble to complete his façade however.

Being good with intel he'll no doubt have an incline as to the more known thieving crews and it could be made possible he has suspicions about Klyde's. In this way, Klyde or another member could maybe freelance him (nobody knows he has a relationship with House Valoren either).

So, for a potential infiltration team, that would give us:
  • Donatien, the halfbreed who thinks he's a noble pretending to be a halfbreed pretending to be a noble,
  • Zincell, the Terriswoman pretending to be a skaa pretending to be a Terriswoman,
  • And Matthias, the skaa spy pretending to be hired muscle.
And for the rest:
  • Klyde as the leader.
  • Trev shouldn't be seen by the nobility due to his involvement in the rebellion, but he's great to have on a strike force. Depending on what we're doing with her training, he might bring his protege Nessa along at times.
  • Where does Khaelys fit in? Considering his goals, I guessed he might prefer to be on the strike force, but correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm really liking this crew so far! We seriously need some Smokers and scouts, though, as well as a source of income. And a scam to pull off, of course!

Very true! I just posted that because of what we discussed before about her using her stewardess skills, and also because it was a funny way to parallel Donatien's weird multiple layers of identity. XD It's up to you what she does in the end, of course, but I'd caution against switching disguises if she's going to be seen by the nobility in more than one persona unless she's really good at altering her appearance.

I think the best thing would be to be a stewardess, but I just needed to throw that in. :lol:

Klyde would be leader. Donatien, Matthias and Zincell would be the eyes and ears of the thing. Khaelys, Trev, and Nessa would be the Muscle.

Ooh! Perhaps their first scam involves presenting Donatien as the long lost nephew of an old Lord with no heirs, giving him access to all of that particular house's holdings - including properties, servants, contracts...

Delissia will be involved to some extent as well. For smokers it might be prudent to whip up some NPCs.

Sorry that I'm having trouble keeping up guys. There is still no internet at my house and since I don't have a holiday school has been keeping me busy. Ill try to use some library internet to post this afternoon.

Hey everyone!

I've been getting a lot of queries lately about Klyde's crew, so I thought I'd bump this topic back up so we can get started brainstorming here. That way, more people can be involved in the discussion, and my inbox doesn't get too full.

So, so far Zincell and Khaelys have been "recruited", which means the crew has a coinshot and a feruchemist (we'll have to see if Zincell decides to reveal her feruchemy or not though).

I might be misremembering, but I thought Lyr (a smoker) mentioned being interested, which is great because the crew definitely needs one, so we'll have to brainstrom recruitment ideas.

Among the non accepted characters, Haradion, Kalin, and Camille have all indicated that Ethen Bek, Kalin, and Donatien would also be interested in joining the crew, so we have ample RP material here.

One thought I had was that, since Klyde will be hospitalized most of this cycle, he could put out a sort of "casting call" in the underground. He still has lots of contacts in Luthadel, so this should be within his power. Then, the interested parties could show up to "apply" for a job with his crew, and we might be able to get all the recruitment/introduction stuff over with in one thread.

Zincell is probably going to try to pass off as a "traveler from far off lands beyond the Terris Dominance, or even Farmost, where people have strange abilities far beyond those of an allomancer."

She wants to be all mysterious to seem less weak and inexperienced. XD.

Well, I can confirm that Ethen Bek (once he's accepted) Will definatly be joining. Perhaps we should have a Post That contain all members of this Crew?

I also think we should have a Name, rather than just "[TBD]'s Crew"

Something that is well known, but not obviously a Thieves crew.

Also I have not yet read all the posts so I dont know, but About the Thieves base of Opperations?

My Character owns a redundent building which used to be a Shop, which could easily be converted to a shop and used as a front, while the back of the buildinng be our base?

Just a thought?

I have an alternative suggestion, as to how the characters meet though. Perhaps we our each well known in the Thieves circles, and that our fearless leader is planning a Massive Job, such as a massive hiest on a Noble house or something? In which case, he would be determined to recruit allomancers, and feruchemists etc, for the cause?

Hello. Once my character Kalin is accepted can he join? He is a doctor terrisman.
As for base, check out my app. There is a tavern in it called 'The Skinned Rat' It could be exactly what where looking for.
As for cons, I watch a show called Hustle, which is about a group of con artists. One great con is when they invite a man into a deal, with a deposit. Three thieves one mark. One thief is acting all arrogent and nasty piece of work. Then as a show of a valor takes all the money and pretends to put it all on one bet with out telling anyone. One he says is sure to win. Then it 'loses' and tels the other three he lost it all. the third thief flirts with the mark, and sudduces him/her. When the others find out, in the heat of the moment, the second thief, 'kills' the 'gambler' and then panics, telling every one to run and lay low for a while. The mark is encouraged by the second and the they all leave planning to meet up in a months time to discusse the sittuation.
The the thieves go home with a large sum, and are never seen again. There are other cons such as the switch, when they swap cases of money, but this is one of the best and more dering. The 'Gambler could be a ferchemist or pewter arm, in order to survive the wounds, with pain dulled and treated by Kalin after. Alot of money is made!!!

Another option for a base of operations was suggested a while ago (by Camille? I can't remember). In this scenario, the base would be the manor of an elderly minor noble woman. The basic plot involves a member of a crew impersonating a long lost heir of said old woman, and taking advantage of her senile nature (nasty, I know, but hey, skaa thieves gotta do what skaa thieves gotta do). They would then proceed to use her modest fortune to fund crew operations and her household name as a cover.

If this option was chosen, then I think said the duping of said women could be the potential first job.

Klyde's probably not gonna want to name his crew. He'd view it as silly. However, if several members get together and decide on a name, it could be amusing to have the new name for the crew annoying him :)

As for your "well known thieves finding each other via reputation idea" it could work, but would have to be justified by character histories. Donatien and Zincell would both be fairly new to luthadel, and are thus less likely to be well known. Klyde does have somewhat of a reputation, but he has also been absent from Luthadel for a significant amount of time, so people might have started forgetting about him.

As for the massive job, that would have to be something we planned out. Right now, Klyde isn't planning anything in particular, but we could easily change that. One problem is I don't think Klyde knows about Feruchemy. The Synod usually keeps Keepers out of the underground (Sazed was being a rebel by working with Kelsier), so I doubt he's worked with a Feruchemist before, and thus probably wouldn't go seeking them out. Once he learns of their abilities however, I'm sure he'll be VERY interested.

As for cons, it would be nice to find ways to incorporate existing characters as victimes (with consultation between players of course), since it would probably make the threads more exciting.
