The Lord Ruler's perfect capital city, Luthadel, is doing the impossible: rebelling. Skaa half-breeds are being taught the power of Allomancy, something that the Lord Ruler's obligators said only existed in the nobility. The enslaved skaa, with their murderous benefactor, now fight back against a living god's oppression.

So, the Inquisition was formed. The nobles begin to fear assassination from all sides. The times of nobility Mistborn killing each other are over. The Steel Inquisitors look for aristocrat traitors and insurgent skaa, and the skaa try with all their strength to merely survive. The Lord Ruler's perfect Final Empire is slowly devolving into chaos.

Is it just me, or are there far too many skaa mistborn now?

not to mention noble mistborn.

It just seems a little incongruent that Cett couldn't find more than one mistborn in the entire Western Dominance before Yomen kicked him out.

I understand not wanting to limit the possibilities for new character applications, but it's becoming a tiny bit much.

Camille and I have voiced some concerns on this as well. We will probably need to start restricting things soon.

Perhaps we should be operating under the illusion that the allomancers (especially the skaa ones) we are RPing are pretty much the only ones? That would still make them rare enough, wouldn't it?

Hmm.. In my reread of the final empire, it sounded like most of the Great houses had at least one mistborn and many mistings. So maybe they're not quite as rare as I had previously supposed.

Still, among the skaa, they'd be quite rare, unless the laws for the noblemen's nighttime activities were a little less strict. come to think of it, they aren't very strict anyway. Just have to execute the Skaa before she can have any children.

Gives you a good 8 months at the very least...

Currently rereading book #2 and Straff Venture kept dozens of mistresses and fathered a whole lot of skaa children. It mentions him having at least 18 misting half-breeds.

I don't think it's a matter of the laws being strick, but just the nobleman and/or skaa mother, being extremely careful or disappearing for a time, in the case of the mother.

But yeah... we do have an awful lot of Mistborn running around.

We actually only have two skaa mistborn though, the same number as in the book.
I think we have too many mistborn in proportion to the other characters, but as far as in Luthadel, I think it's perfectly plausible to have the number of mistborn that we do.

I see that this is an old topic, but is there not a rule that you can't have a Mistborn as your first character anyway?

This topic took place before that rule was made. I'm going to close it now since this discussion is sort of a moot point 4 and a half years later.
