As Phyra moved towards him, Kaylen remembered that she had tied several coins to his mistcloak before Pushing it into the night. Burning iron, he searched for any metals that were high up and moving. After a short search, Kaylen located a collection of small metals - coins? - up above the city, drifting towards the docks, where this portion of the night had begun. He started to point it out, then stopped. He was swiftly coming to enjoy his time spent with Phyra, and judging by her actions tonight - running around slow enough for him to follow and catch her, stealing his cloak to ensure he found her - it seemed as if she enjoyed it too. Pointing to the right of where his cloak should be, he offered the noblewoman his arm.
"I think I can vaguely make out a mistcloak-like shape in that direction. Shall we investigate?"
She was Mistborn too, all she had to do was burn tin and iron or steel to know he was deliberately leading them in the wrong direction, an attempt to stretch out their time together.

Kaylen's finger pointed out to the night hesitantly, before settling in a completely different direction. Suspicious, Phyra burned Steel and Iron, discovering that his mistcloak was drifting toward the docks.
"I think I can vaguely make out a shape in that direction. Shall we investigate?"
There was no way he had missed that. He wanted to spend more time with her. Her smile spread across her face languorously. She began to regret her upcoming date with Lord Elariel.
"Of course we should, but suppose it's a mistwraith? Whatever would we do?" She teased. The superstitions of the skaa were ridiculous. Violent creatures that steal souls? Hardly.
That gave her an idea. Perhaps they could acquire a mistwraith and drop it on some unsuspecting nobleman's grounds. She nearly giggled with mischievous glee.

Phyra's mention of mistwraiths, and her feigned concern, brought a smile to Kaylen's face. The thought of those strange, corpse-eating things being dangerous was laughable, a product of a thousand years of skaa superstition, encouraged by the Ministry to keep the workers living in fear. Drawing a dagger, he took up an exaggerated combat stance between Phyra and the imaginary mistwraith.
"Have no fear, my lady. I will protect you against this mistwraith until I cannot stand for fatigue. And when it brings more of its kind, I shall burn some pewter, so I may protect you some more. And then when I am standing alone between you and the entire masses of mistwraiths, I shall steal the Lord Ruler's atium, so that I may prove victorious."
He laughed at his own foolishness, then turned back to face her. The dagger he had drawn, a replacement for the ones Phyra had broken the previous night, was made in the same fashion of his beautiful obsidian swords. He had forged this at the same time as his swords, and after receiving proof of the design's effectiveness in combat during his bout with Phyra, planned to make more. Therefore, he could do without this one for a few nights. He spun the dagger round so that the handle was facing Phyra, then extended it towards her. It was as beautiful as his swords, but sized down, perfect for assassinations - it was deadly and viscous, yet beautiful and enticing.
"A deadly weapon of beauty, for a deadly lady of beauty."
Even as he was doing this, a part of his mind was whirring. The first time you've seen this girl in years was two days ago. She is dating Lord Elariel. Your House and hers are on unfriendly ground. What are you doing? These arguments were perfectly valid, and yet Kaylen brushed them away as easily as pewter brushed away fatigue.

Phyra eyed the knife suspiciously, then turned her gaze to his face. Really? He'd give me that? I...
She held out a hand to the knife and began caressing it. She moved her hand and rested it lightly on Kaylen's. "It's beautiful. I..." She stammered.
She made up her mind. She would have him tonight. He was strong, he was kind, he was funny... What did it matter that he was a Hasting? What she knew of him was enough.
She reached up to his face, and pulled his head down so she could kiss him.
"Come with me," She ordered. It was very nearly a command.

He saw suspicion turn to wonder as she regarded the dagger, stroking it gently, then he saw something harden in her expression. When she looked at him, it was with a determined look. Here was a woman who knew what she wanted, and knew that she was going to get it. She then reached up for Kaylen's face, kissing him again. This kiss felt different. Before, it had been a teasing peck on the lips, but Kaylen could almost feel some of Phyra's emotions behind this kiss, and it was her favourite emotion, the one she so enjoyed Rioting.
"Come with me." She said it with authority, as if she did not expect Kaylen to disobey. Not that he had any intention of doing that. Despite being two years younger than him, and despite the fact that Kaylen had not seen her for a few years, Phyra had lost none of her physical appeal, and the absence seemed to increase it. Thoughts of his mistcloak forgotten, he followed Phyra, still amused at the chain of events that unfolded before him since returning to Luthadel.
