As you can see on the sidebar, there's all sorts of fancy stuff that you can peruse at your leisure. This is the character application, the main gateway between you and RPing! It's rather self-explanatory, but we'd like to make a few important comments before you get started on your character:
- Shardhunt code: Scifi
- The Rules and Style Guide is your friend!
- Before you get started, introduce yourself! We like to work with new members on their first characters if possible, to help them integrate more quickly into the RP community. We prefer to talk to the people we RP with because we're a close-knit community. As such, you'll need to post an introduction topic so we can get to know you better (IMing us wouldn't hurt either!). We can't accept your character until you do this.
- We love Mistborn for many reasons, one of which is its excellent worldbuilding and rule-based magic system. We want to stay as true to the source material as possible, so we take canon seriously. Please do not take crazy liberties, like doing strange things with Allomancy. If you're unsure of something you're trying to do with the magic systems, ask us (see, introducing yourself has already come in handy)!
- We are not currently accepting new Mistborn, Inquisitors, or Allomantic Savants for a first character. Mistborn and Inquisitors are large commitments, for one thing, but more importantly, characters should be more than just an Allomancer. Make them well-rounded people first, and magic users second. So, for first characters, we'd rather see your skill with making people, and then move up to Mistborn for a later character, if you'd like. Remember, you can always be a Misting! Though, on that note, you can't be Mistings of the undiscovered metals, and if you want to be a Seer or Augur, please clear it with an administrator first.
- Hemalurgy is cool, we know, but it's an exceptionally complicated magic system. All the spikes have to be in the precise spots for them to work... we'll skip the lengthy reasoning, but simply put: do not create characters with random Hemalurgic spikes. If there's Hemalurgy, you better be making a full Inquisitor or a kandra. Random Hemalurgy is less "cool" and more "ow my brain hurts because you're breaking my suspension of disbelief!" Remember, everyone, don't try Hemalurgy at home. (Exceptions can be brought up to the administrators, but you have a low chance of success)
- Please be aware that we are an advanced-level RP. Many of our members are aspiring novelists who use this community as a way to help one another grow as writers. Because of this, we ask that everyone make an effort to write as well as they can. If you're worried that your writing might not be good enough, please feel free to contact an administrator privately or post for help in the general discussion board, and we will be more than happy to give any help we can offer. If you are asked to attempt to put forth more effort or clean up your writing, please do not be offended: we only do this because we want to help you grow, just like everyone else in our community. We administrators even critique each other. Think of this site as more of a novel with a lot of viewpoint characters than anything else.
- A word of advice: length does not equal quality, ever. Many RP sites have a minimum length rule for posts, but length does not inherently mean that the prose is solid. Those are two independent things. Long posts can be good, but more often, something is good because it is tight prose, and it is long simply because there's plenty of narrative to cover. Don't pad posts (or applications, for that matter). Say what you mean as clearly as possible. Clear language, clear ideas. Clarity makes it much more fun for people to RP with your characters, but posts stuffed with unnecessary content are difficult to read and will discourage other players from interacting with you.
- On the character application, there are a few notes to you in case it seems confusing. Do not include them when you post your character up. Furthermore, characters are living, breathing people, so once your character is accepted, you can always edit it later, if you need. Just contact an administrator with the reason you want to edit, and we'll be happy to assist you.

No Kelsiers, no Kaladins, no Rands. ObiWaan is not an acceptable Kandra name. Type: (Skaa, Noble, Obligator, Inquisitor, Kandra, Terrisman) Age: Gender: Place of Origin: Occupation: Relationship Status: (If Applicable. Remove section if your character has no powers) Type of Powers: (Misting, Mistborn, Feruchemist, Inquisitor, Blessing) Metals Used: (For Mistborn, put "All". For Inquisitors, list nine to eleven spikes, as well as the power each spike is charged with. Kandra should name what their Blessing is. Keepers may list their most prominent or favorite metalminds, but it will be assumed they are equipped with the basics unless stated otherwise.) Degree of Skill: (Select from Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced. If your character has multiple powers, list a skill level for each metal. Please note that Savant is a state of being, not a level of skill, and thus is not appropriate here.) Status: (Known/Hidden, Unsnapped, etc. This is your character's status according to the rest of the world. Note that Snapped is NOT a status - specify if your character has not snapped yet, but otherwise, it will be assumed that he or she already has.) (Include height, build, hair, eyes, and their general demeanor in your description, in prose format - no subheaders, please, and no images.) (Also include their moral attitudes, prejudices, and any mental disorders. Do not list, quote, or copy/paste anything from the sixteen personality types - you can use them as personal reference for your writing, but do your own work for your own character. We want to see your writing, not someone else's classifications.) Special Skills: (For example, things like Reading, Writing, Knife Fighting, Lying, Observation, etc.) Strengths: (Try to make strengths and weaknesses relevant to your character. Try to tie them into your character's personality, experiences, relationships, etc.) Weaknesses: (Make sure your character's strengths and weaknesses are balanced. Try to avoid talking up your character's strengths and downplaying their weaknesses. We all have flaws; it's what makes us human, and our characters feel real. This is a great place to make your character even more interesting.) (Give this thought. Make the character feel like a real person. Include major events in the character's life. For example, if the character is an Allomancer, include how he or she snapped. Try to understand what events shaped your character into his current perspective. Also, for simplicity, please name the year the character was born and their parents' name, for the purposes of the Timeline thread. The year the character is born is simply 918 - their age.) (A scene from this character's viewpoint. Take care in picking a scene. It could be a scene from the past or it could happen practically during current events. In any case, write something important to the character so everyone can truly feel the character)
