The Lord Ruler's perfect capital city, Luthadel, is doing the impossible: rebelling. Skaa half-breeds are being taught the power of Allomancy, something that the Lord Ruler's obligators said only existed in the nobility. The enslaved skaa, with their murderous benefactor, now fight back against a living god's oppression.

So, the Inquisition was formed. The nobles begin to fear assassination from all sides. The times of nobility Mistborn killing each other are over. The Steel Inquisitors look for aristocrat traitors and insurgent skaa, and the skaa try with all their strength to merely survive. The Lord Ruler's perfect Final Empire is slowly devolving into chaos.

Tamsin rose back to her feet, and came around the table to stand beside Vizar. She smiled down at him. "Let's go to the library, then. It's always been my favourite room in the house." She was sure that her father would call for one or both of them sooner or later, but for now he ought to be busy in his office. Tamsin could even take some of her work into the library, and they could have a little peace together for a while.

She held out her hand to help the Terrisman to his feet.

Vizar chuckled slightly. "It's a good place to be," he said. Vizar spent most of his time perusing the books, trying to glimpse prose and hidden meaning in many texts. He read the driest and most boring books, but got the most meaning out of them. He caught hints of stories that he could write down -- which he would then corroborate with other stories, and try to piece together a lost piece of art. He didn't think it safe to work on that with Tamsin present.. so he would simply read, or help Tamsin with her studies.

He took Tamsin's hand, a casual smile on his lips. "Perhaps someday I will have actual chairs and it won't be so hard to get up." he said, dryly. Tamsin's friendship made the days easier to live through without Tizia. For that, Vizar owed Tamsin everything.

Tamsin hung on to Vizar's hand for a moment. She knew before she did it that it would unsettle Vizar, who was still seeming stiff and formal even as he attempted to call her by her name. She couldn't hold herself back, though; she reached out and put her arms around the towering Terrisman, dropping her head against his shoulder. He was like a pillar of stability, an indispensable part of her life, and now a friend on a closer level than ever before. She wanted to do something for him. "You'll have chairs if you want them, Vizar, you'll have anything you ask for that is in my power to give, all you have to do is ask."

She pulled back to look up at him, "You've been there for me through a lot... you've given me so much of your wisdom, and you saved my life at the Casuana Ball, and my father's. I wouldn't have been able to find my way out of the fire without you. I don't know how to tell you what you mean to me."
