Skaa half-breeds are being taught the power of Allomancy, something that the Lord Ruler's obligators said only existed in the nobility. The enslaved skaa, with their murderous benefactor, now fight back against a living god's oppression.

So, the Inquisition was formed. The nobles begin to fear assassination from all sides. The times of nobility Mistborn killing each other are over. The Steel Inquisitors look for aristocrat traitors and insurgent skaa, and the skaa try with all their strength to merely survive. "My sincerest apologies my lord. I do believe it unlikely that I will be able to make an appearance at such time, for I have a previous engagement" Zincell said, still speaking in that same accent, still bowing. She found it somewhat humorous that she was the tallest of the three, but the one whose head was lowest.

"I'm afraid most of my free time is later at night, and exploring the city at such hours would be dangerous at best, and likely suicidal."

"How unfortunate for you. It is a shame you can't spend more time exploring the city you seem so interested in," Warren paused for a moment, wondering how he could acheive the outcome he desired. Marlon should never have sent me here, he is the one that excells at this sort of thing. Wait, she only said most of her free time. So she should have some time for a tour during a reasonable hour. "Do you have no time availiable during the day at all? I might be able to reshuffle my appointments. I really would appreciate finding out more about this... great city." And figure you out as well Miss Cell.

Not wanting to exclude Delissia from the conversation he turned to her and said, "And when, perchance, would you be avaliable?"

Luckily, the page for three days from now in Delissia's appointment book was blessedly empty. Unfortunately, that was mostly because it was the day before the Elariel ball. If the Casuana ball was any indication, balls thrown by the Great Houses were not events she could afford to show up unprepared for. Contacts would have to be made, and she would have to find a way to scrounge up enough money to pay for the dress she was having put together for the event. As much of her week was already filling up with social calls, especially now that the first few days had been taken up nursing Klyde back to health and dealing with the ramifications of burning down her hotel, Delissia had been hoping to use the day before the ball to set her affairs in order and make absolute certain she was prepared.

However, she also knew if she did not insist on the date, Lord Warren would try to change it to accomodate Zincell, who obviously did not want to meet with him again. Goodness, couldn't he see how reluctant the girl was to be there, with all of that bowing and those flimsy excuses? Women who were excited by their company were always smiling prettily and batting their eyelashes, at least those who knew how to show their appreciation for their companions did. That was why Delissia always made certain to do such things at any rate, and in general her companions always seemed to enjoy her company, and leave her feeling their company was enjoyed as well.

"I think that date shall work marvelously, Lord Warren!" Delissia exclaimed, thinking on her feet. "How clever of you to schedule time to explore time to meet on a day we all must surely be preparing for the Elariel Ball. That way, we can explore the city together as we take turns running errands, helping eachother along the way. I know personally, I will have quite the list of parcels to purchase and pick up, and I'm certain both of you must have a similar amount of preparations for this grand event! I was growing ever so worried about getting to all the places I need to be in time, but I am certain with more eyes and ears, we shall chose only the quickest of routes, and finish everything with time to spare! And best of all, as many other nobles will likely be preparing for the ball as well, exploring three days from now will ensure we will not be missing any other engagements. After all, if the Casuana Ball was any indication of the significance of Great House parties, I am certain the Elariel ball will be another event of the season, and people can hardly be expected to show up for such an event unprepared."

Delissia smiled brightly and gave her eyelashes a good batting for effect. "Indeed Lord Warren, I cannot help but be impressed by your cleverness." There, she hoped that would do it. Hopefully, he would not notice her stragetic oversight of 'Cell's' inability to attend the event, and focus on how convenient Delissia had made his original choice of date sound. It would make sense for him to do so, wouldn't it? After all, no matter how he addressed her, or which titles Delissia used, Zincell was obviously a skaa, or at the very least no noble worth associating with. And the poor girl was so obviously uncomfortable, Delissia did ever so hope Lord Warren would not insist on changing the date.

Zincell tensed and began inching away, hoping that Delissia could distract the man enough so that she'd be able to leave.

"Ball?" Warren began, somewhat confused. "Ah, yes. The... Elariel? Ball. Of course." He blushed slightly at the effusive praise that Delissia was directing towards him, unused as he was to such attention back home. I guess I chose the right date out of thin air. He glanced over at Cell, who gave the distinct impression that she wanted to get away, and felt a twinge of guilt. I didn't mean to make her so uncomfortable... I was just curious. Delissia though seems to be knowledgeable about the current state of affairs, which I desperately need. So, do I settle my curiousity? Or do I bow to the needs of my house?

He sighed inwardly. The House. "I would be delighted to escort you on your errands, Miss Arnell," Warren said, a tight smile on his face, before addressing Cell, "My only regret is that you will be unable to join us. Perhaps we will meet again?" Hopefully...

"Perhaps, lord Warren." Zincell said, growing somewhat red again. "I have errands to run."

With that, she left, careful to not be too fast or too slow, and definitely not looking back. She also made sure she didn't bump into anyone else while walking. That was one coin dodge she didn't want to have to try again. Though the likelihood of a noble being respectful and friendly to her was probably astronomical. Hopefully Delissia and Warren would enjoy their time together. Maybe depriving her of time to burn more buildings... or people.

She needed to find some place quiet to think. Possibly to fill steel as well. A rooftop would be nice. Somewhere in the Cracks, maybe?

Delissia watched Zincell walk away with mixed feelings. She still didn't know what to think of the girl, and her peculiar and nebulous connection to Klyde, but that hadn't stopped her from trying to help. Although now she found herself unsure of whether she had helped or not. Had she saved Zincell from an uncomfortable situation, or deprived her of a meaningful friendship? Perhaps Warren could have broken through that uncomfortable shell of hers into what was buried beneath.

Nonsense Delissia told herself. While Zincell didn't exactly behave like a skaa, she must be one. With her behaviour she just couldn't be a noble after all. The fact that she associated with Klyde alone spoke volumes about her character. Delissia also associated with Klyde of course, but those were extenuating circumstances, and she had repeatedly attempted to remove herself from that despicable man's company. It wasn't her fault it hadn't worked yet, was it? After all, she could hardly be blamed for falling for those deep brown eyes and that charming smile...

Stop it! Delissia ordered herself, Stop it this instant! She was a noble woman of excellent reputation and character. She had no business admiring a despicable human being--no, a despicable skaa like Klyde. She should never have become entangled with him in the first place. What she needed now were real friends, like kind Lord Warren.

"A shame she won't be joining us," Delissia said politely after waving good-bye. "I know I tend to get ever so busy at times, but I can't imagine being able to find room for more appointments. After all, what is life worth if one is unable to make new friends?"

"I don't know," Warren replied, "Though I expect it would be a boring." Burning tin he could still make out Cell as she hurried down the street away from Delissia and himself. He stared after her for a moment before he realized he should pay attention to the woman still in his company, not the one who had left it. "So, Delissia. Where do you suggest we meet for our tour of the city?" Warren believed it would be more polite for her to decide such a thing, he didn't want to be too great an imposition

Delissia nearly froze as Warren spoke her name. Luckily, she kept her composure, and instead of freezing, she brought out her fan and began to wave it about in an agitated manner, hoping to display her... agitation. Had his failure to address her formerly been caused by the ability of her cheery demeanor to put him at ease? Or perhaps it was merely a slip of the tongue, similar to Delissia's earlier faux pas when she had referred to 'Cell' as a lady. But if it was a slip of the tongue, was it also possible that his tongue had slipped because there was something intrinsically un-noble about Delissia, in the same way that Delissia's slip had occured because of the way Warren was treating Zincell?

Delissia let her fan hand speed up, hoping the small bursts of air would calm her tangled thoughts. When had she become so easily agitated? It was that Klyde again, she was sure of it. Before he had turned up something as simple as an informal address from a new acquaintance would have never put her so on edge. As soon as he was well, Delissia would have to be rid of him, and that was that.

"How kind of you to ask, Lord Warren. Many of my errands are centered around Kenton Street, in the commercial district, I believe." Delissia said, taking care to keep her voice charged with spirit, and her smile pretty. A noble lady had no business crying or being overly sensitive. She had a duty to her peers to use her charm and impeccable manners to be an example of the Lord Ruler's goodness, and could not allow a mere slip of the tongue to prevent her in her quest. "Would that location be agreeable to you?"

As Delissia spoke it was obvious to Warren that she was flustered, though she did a fair job in concealing it. Was it something I said? Did I offend her in some way? He quickly ran through the conversation thus far in his mind. Her name you fool! You used her name! See this is why you shouldn’t be the one doing this. Marlon should be here instead.

Anxious to soothe her he began, “Please excuse my use of your given name Lady Arnell. I am still growing accustomed to life among such noble ladies as yourself. Belinsk is very much a backwater when compared to Luthadel and admittedly even there I was rather uncouth.” Hopefully I’m not laying it on to thick, but I do not want to offend her. She could be my gateway into Luthadel society…

“Pardon me but I am still learning my way around the city. Could you, perhaps, give me directions to Kenton Street?” As an afterthought he continues, “Also what time would you prefer to meet?”

Delissia smiled prettily, and did her best to accept Lord Warren's apology. "Lord Warren, you flatter me," she said gracefully while fluttering her fan in a less agitated fashion, "I accept your apology of course, but really Lady Delissia is fine. It's not like I'm the Lady of House Arnell, after all . . ." Not even a Lady of House Arnell, ". . .and we are such good friends after all."

Delissia pushed her insecurities and traitorous thoughts aside with a silent prayer to the Lord Ruler, and proceed to give Lord Warren the best directions to Kenton street she could manage. While she herself had an impeccable sense of direction, and an excellent memory for landmarks and places, she found her breathless and rapid manner of explanation often left people behind, and made it difficult for them to follow.

"I suppose you could get more detailed directions from a true Luthadel native," she admitted after several minutes of explanation, "I am, after all fairly new here myself, but Kenton Street should not be hard to find at all, in my humble opinion. Indeed, the street itself is such a picturesque locale, and has such a vibrant economic sort of energy, it should stand out from a league or more away, if I do say so myself." Delissia paused briefly to give her eyelashes a few good flutters.

"As for a meeting time, I'm certain we will both be ever so busy with ball preparations, so we had best start early. Would just after breakfast work for you?"

Delissia seemed to have accepted his apology, That's good. It would set a bad precedent if I offended the first two people I met here. The thought brought the enigmatic Cell back to his thoughts. Who is she? What was she hiding? So many unanswered questions... I hope we meet each other again, however unlikely that would be.

He brought his attention back to Delissia just in time to hear her suggestion to meet just after breakfast. "That is an agreeable time for me as well, Lady Delissia." Warren place a subtle emphasis on the word "lady," partly to show her he could remember to be polite but mostly to imprint the need for the word in his mind. "I look forward to it."

I should bring this conversation to a conclusion before I offend her again. "Now I am sure you are a busy woman, I don't want to distract you from your duties today, at least anymore than I already have," he smiled, "I hope you have an enjoyable and productive day." Hopefully she finds that acceptable...

Delissia nodded enthusiastically, and smiled her prettiest, forcing her troubling feelings to the side. "I hope the same for you, Lord Warren. It was an absolute pleasure to make your acquaintance. I just know we are going to be the dearest of friends, and I cannot wait to continue developing with our assuredly soon-to-be wonderful friendship at the end of the week."

Delissia took a breath and prepared to plow on, only to find she didn't really have anything else to say. Perhaps I have wasted to much time here as is. She really should be checking on that Klyde, after all, and she was still woefully unprepared for any of this weeks social events. Besides, this situation had made her uncomfortable too many times already, perhaps it was a good time to move on. She would have all morning before the ball to get to know Lord Warren better, and she hoped their next meeting would go more smoothly.

"Until we meet again, Lord Warren," she said, curtseying delicately. Then, once their good-byes were completed, Delissia began to stroll away, humming to herself as she went, hoping that a happy song would soothe her troubled heart.
