Luckily, the page for three days from now in Delissia's appointment book was blessedly empty. Unfortunately, that was mostly because it was the day before the Elariel ball. If the Casuana ball was any indication, balls thrown by the Great Houses were not events she could afford to show up unprepared for. Contacts would have to be made, and she would have to find a way to scrounge up enough money to pay for the dress she was having put together for the event. As much of her week was already filling up with social calls, especially now that the first few days had been taken up nursing Klyde back to health and dealing with the ramifications of burning down her hotel, Delissia had been hoping to use the day before the ball to set her affairs in order and make absolute certain she was prepared.
However, she also knew if she did not insist on the date, Lord Warren would try to change it to accomodate Zincell, who obviously did not want to meet with him again. Goodness, couldn't he see how reluctant the girl was to be there, with all of that bowing and those flimsy excuses? Women who were excited by their company were always smiling prettily and batting their eyelashes, at least those who knew how to show their appreciation for their companions did. That was why Delissia always made certain to do such things at any rate, and in general her companions always seemed to enjoy her company, and leave her feeling their company was enjoyed as well.
"I think that date shall work marvelously, Lord Warren!" Delissia exclaimed, thinking on her feet. "How clever of you to schedule time to explore time to meet on a day we all must surely be preparing for the Elariel Ball. That way, we can explore the city together as we take turns running errands, helping eachother along the way. I know personally, I will have quite the list of parcels to purchase and pick up, and I'm certain both of you must have a similar amount of preparations for this grand event! I was growing ever so worried about getting to all the places I need to be in time, but I am certain with more eyes and ears, we shall chose only the quickest of routes, and finish everything with time to spare! And best of all, as many other nobles will likely be preparing for the ball as well, exploring three days from now will ensure we will not be missing any other engagements. After all, if the Casuana Ball was any indication of the significance of Great House parties, I am certain the Elariel ball will be another event of the season, and people can hardly be expected to show up for such an event unprepared."
Delissia smiled brightly and gave her eyelashes a good batting for effect. "Indeed Lord Warren, I cannot help but be impressed by your cleverness." There, she hoped that would do it. Hopefully, he would not notice her stragetic oversight of 'Cell's' inability to attend the event, and focus on how convenient Delissia had made his original choice of date sound. It would make sense for him to do so, wouldn't it? After all, no matter how he addressed her, or which titles Delissia used, Zincell was obviously a skaa, or at the very least no noble worth associating with. And the poor girl was so obviously uncomfortable, Delissia did ever so hope Lord Warren would not insist on changing the date.
