Skaa half-breeds are being taught the power of Allomancy, something that the Lord Ruler's obligators said only existed in the nobility. The enslaved skaa, with their murderous benefactor, now fight back against a living god's oppression.

So, the Inquisition was formed. The nobles begin to fear assassination from all sides. The times of nobility Mistborn killing each other are over. The Steel Inquisitors look for aristocrat traitors and insurgent skaa, and the skaa try with all their strength to merely survive. The early-morning ash fell silently upon Luthadel, disturbed only by the swift passing of a small woman soaring through the air in a blood-spattered ball gown.

Davinna paid little attention to her route, the path long-since memorized. Her feet thumped lightly against the roof of a skaa tenement, scattering a pile of ashes to the air. She paused for a moment, crouching low the rooftop and burning bronze. Was he down there, perhaps, hiding among the faceless unwashed masses? She focused, searching, trying to find the smallest hint of Allomantic power.

"No pulses," she growled softly, slamming her fist into the stone, sending spiderweb cracks radiating outward. She launched herself into the air again, flaring bronze but finding nothing. "No pulses! Why are the pulses hiding?"

This was unacceptable. Completely unacceptable! How could the skaa have escaped her? And in such a rude manner, too! He'd called her out, and then run away, vanishing into the mists. Davinna had searched throughout the night, exterminated countless skaa for information - and, admittedly, for fun- and yet somehow, for the first time, a target had managed to elude her.

It was almost as if he didn't want her axe sinking into his tender flesh.

Snarling, Davinna reviewed the entirety of the night again, looking for anything she might have missed. Not for the first time, she cursed herself for not tapping one of her zincminds during the brief confrontation. She knew there had to be something she missed, some tiny detail that would put everything into place, something that if only her mind had been a bit faster she could have caught and filed away for later.

The Lord Ruler would be upset with her, she realized as she clutched Monkey tighter to her breasts. The thought made her chest tighten, fear and shame gripping at her stomach. The urge to burn gold flashed through her, but she resisted, squashing it down. She needed her mind clear. She needed to analyze everything, without distractions.

Only then could she find the skaa abomination, and redeem herself in the eyes of her god.

Her feet landed on the top of a spire, and she Pushed herself off, quickly anchoring to a point on Kredik Shaw itself and Pulling. Several more Pushed and Pulls sent her higher, spiraling around one of the towers. Pushing herself a final time, Davinna flew through an open window near the top, landing crouched in a small room inside.

She huddled there for a moment, catching her breath, then slowly rose to her feet. The apartment was silent, and the two axes hanging on the wall indicated the other Angels were likely in residence. Davinna smiled slowly, hanging her ax on a hook between the two others and headed through the doorway and into the common room. In the back of her mind, she continued to work on the problem at hand, examining the scene from different angles, trying to get a new perspective. Every miniscule detail was examined and cataloged multiple times, from every angle and every approach.

Setting Monkey down on the floor, Davinna looked over to the door that led into her suite, then shook her head. There was no time for sleep, and she didn't need it. There was no time for anything - not sleep, not the Could-Have-Been, not even waffles. Stripping off her blood-spattered gown, Davinna tossed it aside, uncaring of her nudity. Picking Monkey back up, she jumped into one of the high back chairs, arranged in a circle at the center of the room, and sat cross-legged, the stuffed koloss in her lap, held tightly against her chest.

Taking a breath, she brought the scene from a few hours ago back to her thoughts, and tapped her zincmind. The world slowed down, along with her perceptions, as the Inquisitor's brain began moving at superhuman speed.

There something she was missing, and by The Lord Ruler, she was going to find it.

It was funny how you can live in a city your whole life and still get lost. And Owne was completely lost.

He had been trying to get to the brothel, but had been caught in the morning rush of Nobles and Skaa heading to work. The force of thousands of bodies literally pushed him in the wrong direction. By the time the crowd had dispersed, Owne had no idea where he was any more. But Owne knew that all roads led to Kredik Shaw and once he made it there he could find his way to the brothel.

On his way to the palace Owne spotted a Skaa beggar on the road. Owne hated the Skaa. They were smelly and stupid, and everyone knew they carried diseases, didn't they.

"Get out of here. Away," Owne threw out his arms as if he could scare the Skaa beggar away like a flock of birds. "You should be in the slums where you belong. Which is... well I am not exactly sure what direction that is... but you should be there. Oh yes that is for certain."

The Skaa mumbled in a starved voice, "Coins?"

"Oh you want coins do you?" Owne said, "Well what if I was a coinshot then, and I blasted those coins into your face? You would not like that, would you?"

The Skaa stared at him blankly.

"You have no idea what I am talking about do you?" Owne said. Then quickly remembering he said, "Um... nor should you. Because Skaa do not know about coinshots, or allomancy for that matter. Okay, forget I said anything about the coinshots. Blast, I said allomancy too, didn't I? Forget about coinshots and allomancy because... um... they are not real. So why even think about something if it is not real. They are just superstitious things like mistwraiths. Oh wait, mistwraths are actually real aren't they? But you do not know that, or do you?" Lord Ruler, Skaa propaganda was so hard to keep up with. "So to recap. Coinshots and allomancy are not real. Mistwraths very well might be, but you do not know for sure."

The Skaa gave him a confused look.

Owne sighed. "Look," Owne said, "if I give you a few coins will you just forget you saw me?"

The Skaa nodded eagerly.

Owne threw him a some coins and continued on his way. "Stupid Skaa," Owne said under his breath.

"Finally," Owne said as he saw the spires of Kredik Shaw in the distance. "Now I just need to go northwest of the palace to get to the brothel." Owne looked around. "Now... um... which way is northwest?"

EDIT: fixed some spelling errors.
