Type of Powers: Allomancy and Hemalurgically fueled Feruchemy

Degree of Skill: Advanced in the use of both Brass and her Zincminds, as she does little else but use them.

Height: 3' 5"
Weight: 39 lbs
Voice: Elaine speaks in a hushed, timid tone, lightly pitched and pleasant to listen to...when it can be heard.
Overall Appearance: Generally, the first words to come to ones' mind when viewing Elaine is "Lord Ruler, she's so small!" usually followed by "Just where are her parents?". Elaine's frame is nothing short of underfed and diminutive, made to look yet more pathetic by the raggedy scraps that pass for her clothes, and the poorly cut hair above her ash-stained face. On the incredibly rare occasion someone manages to look past this pitiful appearance, they might notice the particularly keen and intelligent sheen of her eyes, and the rows of earrings along the shells of her ears that she does her best to keep covered with a filthy scarf wrapped around her head.

Special Skills: Strategic analysis, pickpocketing, information gathering, mathematics, reading and writing
Strengths: Slipping beneath the notice of those who would seek to harm her, worming her way into someone's heart, throwing her mental weight around.
Weaknesses: Any feat of physical prowess as her body is incredibly weak and frail. Naivety. An overwhelming concern for her brother. Also prone to bouts of complete mental shutdown.

Elaine is an incredibly sweet and endearing child, eager to trust and eager to please. She is a quick learner with a thirst for knowledge not completely her own, only rivaled by her hunger for affection that is completely hers. Fiercely loyal to those she decides to trust, a trait that has gotten her in trouble before, she takes too much at face value due to the innocence and inexperience of her youth. Her personality tends to deviate towards extremes when using her Zincminds, becoming either an insufferable know-it-all or an even more pitiable vegetable. But through ash and mist, she has always had her brother, her only true desire to find a place where they can live in peace.

Elaine hardly remembers her family, and if Vincent does he has yet to find a way to relay the information to her. She remembers Vincent, though. How could she forget? He was the reason she was always safe from the monsters, as far back as she can remember. Always there to protect her, shelter her. But it was her fault they were in such trouble to begin with.

She had always been a small child, frail and prone to sickness. Even far in the Southern Dominance, where Nobles were supposedly more kind to Skaa, there was often spoken words of just killing her. Such a pathetic creature would never make a suitable worker. Because of her, Vincent worked twice as hard, received twice as many beatings, and ate half as much as he should have because he always split what his meal tokens earned him with her.

Because of her, the monsters noticed Vincent. All because she was so weak and worthless, they came to take him away from her. A skaa who could do the work of two could be 'put to good use', the monsters had said. Elaine was only five years old, she had barely begun to figure out how to abysmally attempt sewing! She had wanted to be of some use, to pay Vincent back for all he had done for her, and they were just going to take him away and leave her to die?!

Panic gripped her chest, an intense, burning sensation within her. She didn't WANT to die, but worse, she didn't want to be without Vincent, he was all she had ever had! One of the monsters paused, looking back her way. What were all these feelings? Why were they radiating off the monster? She tried shoving them aside as she crawled her way to her brother, and much to her surprise, they moved.

Doubt...pity...those...those feelings she knew. She had seen them on many a face. She could USE those. Everything else was slowly moved away from the monster as she looked up at it, as pathetic as she could make herself look. And then she heard it.

"What harm could it do to bring the brat along? She's of no use here, and it might make the boy more amicable..Not like we can't kill her later, she probably couldn't kill a fly if she wanted to." The other monsters seemed doubtful...but they had pity coming from them as well. Elaine nudged everything else they had aside as well. She hadn't a clue what she was doing, but she simply had to stay with her brother.

The trip was a long one. Long, and uncomfortable. But neither of those feelings were new in the least. There were many other boys, some a great deal older, but they all had one thing in common with Vincent. They were strong. Tough. They would look at her strangely, as would the monsters, but he kept her safe, just as he always had. Even when the monsters questioned bringing her along, she managed to find that fire inside herself, move back any feeling but the pity. As long as they pitied her, she could stay, and that was all that mattered to her.

It was an awful place, cold and dark, and terrifying sounds kept her from sleeping at night. The room was huge, but crowded. Vincent was there, that was all that mattered. He would keep the other boys away, even as they began to disappear, one by one. That place...it was not a forge...or a textile mill...and it was definitely not a plantation. What were the monsters doing here? Where were the boys going? When they came to take him from her, would they take her to?

The fire was growing very weak, she hardly dared to ask it for help. And any time she tried, the monsters here just grinned and began to whisper to one another. They stopped pitying her, and one in particular became curious instead. He was different from the other monsters, coming late at night to whisper to her that she could be useful too. That she and Vincent wouldn't have to be separated if she trusted him. He was scarier than the other monsters, and he smelled of smoke as well...but she knew what her chances were in the world without Vincent to save her.

So she trusted the monster. And it hurt. Lord Ruler, it hurt worse than anything Elaine could ever imagine hurting. But she had to do it, she had to be strong..be tough..just this once. They had taken Vincent that night, and if she became 'useful' like the smoke-monster said she could be, they could all leave that horrible place together. The funny water he had given her made the fire inside her burn so hot, Elaine began to wonder if she would smell like smoke too.

The horrible place burned behind them. It deserved to burn. Smoke had said it would probably survive, but that wasn't what mattered. Elaine wanted it to burn to ash, for what those monsters had done to Vincent. The little stabbing pain she had felt was nothing compared to the pain he could not voice. The pain cleared her mind, though. She could see things better now, as if for the first time. Smoke wanted to use her and Vincent. That was why he had made sure they were made useful before saving them.

He had done so, though, and if it helped keep her and her dear brother alive, she would do what the smoke-scented man asked of her. He wasn't a monster, after all. No more than they were now.

It had taken several slow, agonizing years, traveling under veil of night and mist. Smoke had left them that night, instructing them to find him in Luthadel, where they would be most useful to him. That had been fine to Elaine. She and Vincent both had needed time to adjust, to grow and to learn. If only it had spread more evenly between the siblings, they might not need his help after all.

Elaine sighed inwardly, even as her diminutive frame trembled in fright. It never fails.. A sweet little girl, all alone in the night, minding her own business as she walked along, and some thug would decide she was a perfect target for an ambush. New Dominance, new city, same old story.

"P-please sir...d-don't hurt m-me.." She simpered almost silently, wide eyes limpid pools of emerald innocence. This man....has no pity whatsoever! What is WITH this place? Maybe she just had to try a little harder..

"I d-d-don't ha-have any b-boxings, I'm j-just sk-ka-kaff-skaa..." The coughing was good, weak, rattling, and just as wispy as her voice. The cough almost always..

Nothing. Not a single pitiful reaction. Elaine frowned a little beneath her scarf, curling into a tighter ball in the back corner of the alleyway. Maybe some tears would...yes..there's something..what is he...wait...oh you SICK..

"Big brother has been watching you." The tiny skaa girl said without any hint of the previous timid weakness in her still feather-soft voice. "He doesn't like you." A heavy thumping rattled the debris in the alley as a massive shadow blotted out what little light filtered into it. The man turned defiantly, and then his face rose up..and up...and up as the color drained from it. A single fist swung out from beneath the mass of cloth, larger by far than the head of the man it connected with.

Elaine giggled, stooping down to the unconscious would-be assailant and relieving him of his coin-pouch. "Thanks for playing, mister creep. Looks like you lose, though..Didn't your mother teach you not to pick on helpless little girls? Maybe that knot on your noggin will teach you a lesson, hm?"

Hopping over the still-breathing body, she held her thin arms up to the figure, and laughed softly as she was whisked up several feet through the air. Wrapping those same arms barely around a thick neck, Elaine lightly pecked the softly whiskered cheek. "Thank you, Vincent~. You always save me from the monsters."

Vincent's silent lips curled into a soft smile beneath his bright blue eyes. He was glad. She didn't need brass to know that. Nestled safely in his strongest of arms, Elaine was free to let her mind drift as he began to walk back to the hideout. She had learned things tonight. Important things. 'Daddy' would be pleased.

Well, I've talked to you about the little holes in Elaine (who her parents were, why she was spikes), so those concerns don't exist anymore!
